As the proud daughter of Chinese immigrants, I am the product of my parents’ unwavering determination and resilience. My parents, the amazing Roxy and Phil, arrived in the United States with scholarships for graduate school, a few hundred dollars, and a dream—an American Dream. They came to this country to build a better life for their family. As their fortunate daughter, I am what is known as an ABC (American Born Chinese). Growing up in New Jersey with my favorite and only brother George, I struggled to find myself as I navigated the complexities of fitting in, balancing multiple languages, and bridging cultural divides. Though I excelled academically and embraced the traditional pursuits of a good Chinese daughter—violin and piano—I also found joy in family singalongs and weekend mah-jong gatherings with our close-knit circle of family friends.

Fast forward to college, where, on a whim, I followed a long-time family friend to California.. What was once considered a bold move by many East Coasters turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I earned my BS in Marketing and Finance from UC Berkeley, while also immersing myself in the world of vocal jazz, a cappella, and musical theater. I even performed alongside the lead singer of the iconic pop band, Third Eye Blind. During my twenties, I worked at a startup by day, while pursuing my artistic dreams by night—auditioning for Disney Japan and ultimately making it to the final 2 standing in the callback for the National Miss Saigon tour. When the opportunity arose to return for a re-audition, I made the bold decision to gracefully decline, choosing instead to embrace the next phase of my life. When they phoned me the following year to  “come back to re- audition,” I candidly replied, “Thank you, but I will pass.” I turned 30! It was time for me to have some babies and start a family  (In hindsight, also one of the best decisions in my life!).

Turning 30 marked another defining moment—one that led me to focus on my family. I became a stay-at-home mom to three incredible children. By day, I was a room mom, and by night, I relished performing in award-winning a cappella jazz groups,  scatting Ella style with big bands, and teaching Zumba. However, as my children grew older, I noticed many of their peers struggling to cope with the pressure-cooker environment of Silicon Valley, where high expectations, productivity, and achievement often overshadowed mental well-being. It sparked a question: how could I help?

That question was answered when life introduced me to two extraordinary life coaches who, through their guidance, profoundly changed my perspective. During the challenging and anxiety-laden period of the COVID-19 pandemic, I discovered my calling. I pursued training with the incredible Martha Beck’s Wayfinder Life Coach Program  and obtained my ACC and ICF certifications. Since 2022, I have dedicated myself to helping individuals design lives they love, reconnect with their inner joy, and rediscover  what brings  them true inner joy, to blaze a trail towards finding freedom!

Now, with my three children blossoming into extraordinary young adults and 30+ years of marriage under my belt, I continue to find my passion in spreading joy, positivity and love in all that I do. When I'm not coaching, I serve as a standardized patient at Bay Area medical schools, guiding future physicians in building meaningful connections with their patients. I also continue to teach Zumba and perform, recently taking on the dream  role of Erzulie, the Goddess of Love, in the musical Once on This Island, and proudly dancing for the Golden State Warriors’ Hardwood Classics 2024-2025 dance team!

As I reflect on the path I have taken, I do so with immense gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me and excitement for the adventures yet to come!  I am deeply committed to helping you rediscover your joy, purpose, and freedom to find your MAGIC!
